Keypad: You can either press these keys with your mouse or use your computer's keyboard to enter numbers and operators. An 'operator' is a key used to perform a mathematical function. The valid operators are:

+ = addition
- = subtraction
* = multiplication
/ = division

The calculator can use decimal values as well. Use the '.' key to enter the decimal location, either with the mouse or the '.' key on your keyboard.

As you enter numbers they can be seen in the Results window directly above the keys.

Equals Key: You can either press this key with your mouse or use your computer's [Enter] key or '=' key on your keyboard. This button will perform the defined operation when selected and the result will be displayed in the Results Window.

Results Window: This is where the numbers are displayed as you enter them, and where the results are displayed when you press '='.

Trig Functions: The Wahoo Calculator can also be used to calculate trigonometry. Enter the value first using the keypad so it is displayed in the Results Window, then press the trig function you wish to use. The trig functions available are:

  • Sine[SIN], Cosine[COS], Tangent[TAN]

  • ArcSine[ASIN], ArcCosine[ACOS], ArcTangent[ATAN]

Clear Key: You can either press this key with your mouse or use your computer's [Esc] key on your keyboard to use this function. This will Clear the Results Window and remove any previously defined values and operations.

Pi Key: You can use the value for Pi in a calculation by pressing this key. This function key will set the value to 3.141593... and will be displayed in the Results Window. Use this function just as you would for entering a number. For example if you wanted to know the answer to 5 x Pi, you would press:

5 * Pi =

Trig. Utility:

Enter any two known values and this utility will calculate the rest. Enter the known values in the appropriate boxes, then press the 'Calc It' button to calculate all the rest of the values. The unknown values must be set to zero. You can use the 'Clear All' button to set all the values to zero.

The window next to the 'Calc It' button displays which values were used for the calculations (in case there were more than 2 values entered) or to display an error message (like only one value entered).

Press 'Done' to exit the Trig Calculator.

Photo Sizing Utility:

Use this utility to easily calculate the size of an image. Select the units that you know with the buttons, either pixels or inches, then enter the height and/or width. When you select the other unit of measure, the entered value will change to the new measurement unit.

This is particularly useful for calculating the number of pixels to resize a digital picture to fit a frame or layout area.

System Info / About:

Use this button to find out how much memory is available to Windows or how much hard drive space you have on your current hard drive. This dialog box also displays the version number of the calculator and the copyright notice.

Press 'OK' to exit this dialog box.

Loans:

Use this utility to calculate loan payments and the amount of interest you will have to pay before you apply for the loan. You need to know the amount you will borrow, the annual percentage rate (APR) and the term of the loan (how long you want to pay back the loan).

Press 'Calc It' after you enter the numbers. You can change numbers and press 'Calc It' again to see how the change affects the bottom line. Press 'Done' to exit the utility.

Experiment with numbers to get the loan that fits your needs.

Savings:

Use this utility to calculate the amount of interest you will earn on a savings account. You need to know the beginning balance, the 'Yearly Interest Rate' (usually called the annual percentage rate or APR), how often it is compounded, and and how many months you want to leave it in the savings account (or what the interest will be after a certain number of months).

Press 'Calc It' after you enter the numbers. You can change numbers and press 'Calc It' again to see how the change affects the bottom line. Press 'Done' to exit the utility.

Early Payoff:

Use this utility to calculate the payoff amount on a loan. You need to know the monthly payment on the loan, the number of payments already made, the total number of payments the loan was taken out for, and the annual percentage rate (APR) for the loan.

Press 'Calc It' after you enter the numbers. You can change numbers and press 'Calc It' again to see how the change affects the bottom line. Press 'Done' to exit the utility.

Compound Interest:

Use this utility to calculate the accrued amount based on weekly payments and compounded interest. You need to know the weekly or monthly payment, the annual percentage rate (APR), and the term (length of time) to calculate it for in either months or years.

Press 'Calc It' after you enter the numbers. You can change numbers and press 'Calc It' again to see how the change affects the bottom line. Press 'Done' to exit the utility.

Goals:

Use this utility to figure out how much you will need to deposit in an interest bearing account each month to reach a financial goal. You need to know your financial goal, the annual percentage rate (APR), and how long you want to take to reach this goal.

Press 'Calc It' after you enter the numbers. You can change numbers and press 'Calc It' again to see how the change affects the bottom line. Press 'Done' to exit the utility.

Credit Card Payment Planner:

My wife and I were very surprised to see just how long it would take to pay off a credit card if only the minimum payments were sent each month. This utility will tell you how long it will take to pay off a credit card based on your monthly budget, assuming there are no new additional charges. It will even tell you if the card will never be paid off!

You need to know the credit card balancel, the annual percentage rate (APR) on the credit card, and the monthly payment you have budgeted for the credit card.

Press 'Calc It' after you enter the numbers. You can change numbers and press 'Calc It' again to see how the change affects the bottom line. Press 'Done' to exit the utility.

Calendar: Shows today's date and the current month. Any month can be displayed, past or present, from the years 1752 to 9999.

Click on the Month to select a new month from the drop down menu.

Click on the year to scroll through the years, forwards or backwards.

Click on the left arror to move back one month.

Click on the right arrow to move ahead one month.
